Your Warm Market, Who Do You Know?

Most Network Marketers do not have a very successful approach when talking to their warm market.

Most people are not business minded. Most people do not want to join your business or buy your products and services. Most marketers go straight to the “would you please take a look at my business and tell me what you think?” or “I have a product that I would love for you to try.”

With a simple change in approach you can turn a lot of rejection into a lot of leads.

Here is how….

Use the “who do you know” approach. “Sally, who do you know that has a home based business?”

Another example, “Bob, who do you know that would like to make some extra money in their spare time?”

The reason this approach works so well is that there is no pressure. You didn’t ask them to see a presentation or try a product, you asked them if they knew anyone already in business or someone who wanted to make some extra money. One of three things will happen.

They might say, “off the top of my head, no one”. Later they might think of someone and tell you.

They might say they know someone trying to market so and so product. Explain you have a system that really helps marketers promote their company online. Get that persons name and contact information. Then contact them, let them know who pointed you their direction and talk about their business. Ask them if they know anyone who would be open to looking at a way to promote their business online.

The best result is when you ask “who do you know” They say “what about me?”

At every step, the question is “who do you know?”

When they give you a name or two, you ask those people “who do you know?” They give you a few names, on and on. If done correctly, you can gather an endless supply of Leads.  Enough people will say "what about me?" these are the people you want to show your business to.

Everyone knows someone you don’t.



Getting Started With Safe Lists

I do a lot of safe list marketing. When I first started using safelists I spent a lot of time and got little results. I quit using them because I didn't see how it could be effective. For years I struggled. When I figured out what I was doing wrong, I went back to safelist marketing and now I get great results.

Here is what I learned about safelists ....

The majority of the safelists out there have a contact address and a list address. People sending out free credit based mailers are sending to the list address. These e-mail boxes get swamped with offers. People open these, click on the link, close the e-mail and then move on. They want the credits so they can promote their own program.

The chances of someone interested in your offer is only about 2%.


So using the free aspect of safelists has a pretty low chance of success. Solo ads go straight to the contact address and most safelists limit how many solo ads go out per day or hour. So if you run free credit mailers and then run the same ad with a Solo, you will see a much higher conversion rate with the Solo. Even then, the number of leads you create are very few.

So you have increased the leads by  using Solos, but you still have that 2% of interest.

By just switching your mind set and offer from "hey, join my business” ..to ..."hey, let me help build your business", you go to a 98% interest rate. Most people want help building their business. That’s exactly what I do. I generate Leads everyday from different methods by offering to help people with their business.

Then once per month I e-mail to my list, information on my primary business.

They are much more open to my primary business because 1) I have shown them I can help them build it. 2) I have developed trust and a relationship. 3) I am not trying to “sell” them my program, I am just letting them know it exists. With every method, some things work better than others, but in general, the offer you make is much more important than how and where.

The greatest thing you can do to improve your marketing is get out of the 98% who are trying to market a product or program and join the 2% of us who are offering help to the 98% who are struggling.

Ok, now on to some specific instructions.

You will need two Gmail e-mail accounts. If you are already using Gmail then just open another account. Make sure to set up your Google profile on your main account. (brand YOU) There are very few safelists worth joining for the free credit mailers. When you want to use the free aspect of the safelist you will want to submit your Main Gmail address as the “List” e-mail. You want to submit your Secondary Gmail address as the “Contact”.

I realize that this is backwards compared to any advice you may have seen previously on safe lists, but there is a good reason for this. You will get flooded with e-mail from people sending you ads to your “list” e-mail. These e-mails are not worth reading for the most part. Set up Filters to “archive” all your list ads straight to spam. With 1 button you can clear the hundreds of e-mail you are getting and it keeps your inbox clear.

With your secondary Gmail account as your contact address, you will want to filter the contact solo ads (worth a lot of points towards free mailers) for the ones you want to read into a separate folder and you can read them for credits when you have spare time. For the most part I don’t even join the safelist if they sell solo ads.

Typically I search for safelists, test the free credit mailer if they have 10,000 or more members(often they give free credits to sign up). Fewer than that I just send solos. Most often I get very few results. Then I send a Solo. If I get no results, I change my ad a bit and send another solo. If I get no results, the second Solo, I drop that safelist and move on. If I get results I keep it in my advertising rotation. Your advertising budget will determine how many and how often you send Solos.
